The world is in a current state of shock because of recent events that I am sure we are all aware of. It can be very easy to become overwhelmed during this time. With the combination of not being able to leave the home, how heavy the media is covering this pandemic, unexpected situations and many other things that every individual is facing.
There are a few small but very effective exercises that I would like to share with everyone in hopes to restore a little bit of peace in our hearts during this difficult time. Before we jump into the topic of today, please remember to practice social distancing. Inform yourself about the current precautions you should be taking according to your area. Know how to protect yourself from COVID-19 here.
As stated previously, constantly watching the news or reading articles about recent updates can quickly cause a lot of distress. This by no means that you should not watch the news at all, but just be mindful of how often you are doing so. Everything is good for one, as long as it is done in moderation.
Following up with this, not only should you only be doing this now but regularly, is limiting the usage of electronics during the day; whether that be smart phones, watching television or playing video games. Instead of spending all day scrolling on social media, try to spend time meditating everyday. Meditation is something that can very much ground you. Focusing on your breathing can help u forget the rest of the world even if it is for just a short amount of time. Restore tranquility and peace in your heart with this practice.
Remember to take care of yourself, what ever that might mean for you. Now that a lot of us are stuck indoors, use this time to pamper yourself, clean up your room, finish the painting you have been putting off; have fun with the free time. Try to hone in calm energy and practice positivity within the home.
Check in with your loved ones. This is a very difficult time for a lot of people, showing love to others is so important now. Remember to always do things from the heart, be a helping hand.
A lot of us college students are now back in our home town so suddenly and change can sometimes be tough. Remember to stay resilient and positive. Remember to continue taking school seriously, this is a great time to implement new positive and productive habits.
You are never alone. Happy healing!
